I’ve always skipped the dream season in my re-watches, but it’s not a bad season so far. It made good use of Sue Ellen’s mother. And as I type this, Dusty is the only person that has caught JR eavesdropping on the balcony as he says goodbye.

Season 9, Episode 13, original air date December 13, is probably the closest thing Dallas did to a Christmas episode. If you listen to the music in the background during the closing, it was very Christmasy while the entire family was together for the first time in a long time.
Stick with it. the only lousy episodes are with Matt Cantrell and the Barbra Carrera junk. Not much really.

but Cliff risked himself to save Bobby, and was not shown any appreciation.

I always liked the scene right before they go to get Bobby when Miss Ellie tells Cliff that she will be forever grateful if he brings her son home safely. For a second I actually believed that this was going to lead to some kind of truce but I guess J.R. almost getting Cliff killed at the end of the episode kind of ruined that idea.

Came across an old show called Cannon on Me-TV last night. Three familiar faces were guest stars.

ol’ Hutch looks somewhat more animated above than how we last saw him on DALLAS:

(professor Calder did such a creepily accurate job for his friend Cliff in re-creating the dastardly thieving saddletramp and alleged father of the beautiful Pamela)

I must say, JR kinda looked kinda pathetic going around the oilmen's ball trying to get people to go against Cliff after his big oil strike in the gulf.

One particular conversation he had with Jordan Lee when Jordan says "don't tell me you've never done that sort of thing." JR responds "Not to my friends." Has they forgotten all about the Asian oil leases that fast?

Somehow, people kept doing business with JR, even the Asian leases.

Miss Ellie said something in S8 E20 Brothers Ewing.

"If the boys let Cliff win, it'll be like admitting Jock stole the company away from Digger. None of them, ESPECIALLY RAY, won't let that happen."

Especially Ray? Since when was he ever knee deep in the Ewing/Barnes feud? All of a sudden Jock's legacy is more important to Ray than it is to JR and Bobby? If anybody not going to let that happen, it's JR.

An interesting perspective

Best guess is that Cliff won, JR would work to reclaim the company
Bobby may or may not have joined JR - Ewing Oil seemed to be more important to JRthan Bobby,
who would have pursued some other path
Ray didn't have the expertise in the OIl Business to counter Cliff, s he may have been more
devastated because he couldn't do anything about it.

Season 8 was Donna Reed Miss Ellie.
I always thought that Donna Reed's version was more empathetic
I wish that she had more time in the role, I know that others do not agree

IMO, that was probably Donna Reed's best episode as Miss Ellie. At the end, there was a scene where she went up against JR, Bobby and Ray in favor of "her husband" as she put it. For the first time, Donna Reed's Miss Ellie showed some fire.

I do think that Donna Reed brought a more pleasant matriarchal presence to the role,
and even some subtle strength, as you indicate
IMHO I also thought that she had good chemistry with Howard Keel
I never liked Clayton, but in the Donna Reed season, I found him tolerable

I think that post Jim Davis, BBG Miss Ellie was too often a one-note annoyance in the scripts.
I didn't see her as strong, always having Jock, and later Clayton, run interference for her
And the attempt to have her as another Jessica Fletcher...it just didn't work

Not sure where else to put this but I was led here by the Let It Be video and this one has Larry lipsynching We Are The World. Have other people seen this? I have watched so much random Dallas stuff on Youtube and never seen this before.

I love Larry´s bit and his big hat! And so many plastic dolls from the 80s together, it looks like a Toys´r´us commercial!

If Wes Parmalee was Jock Ewing, why didn't he talk about the will?
Maybe he did and I missed it.
Wouldn't he want to know about the events of the Battle for Ewing Oil?
