Stretching a slasher flick out over 8 hours so that there can be better character and story development than you typically get in a two hour movie is pretty clever
I agree, but Prom Night had the best soundtrack

I almost forgot to say, thank you for watching Slasher "with me"
th

Enjoy Game Of Thrones!

Well that was fabulous!

Thanks for persuading me. :D I always enjoy having a show to chat with you about.

Enjoy Game Of Thrones!

You should consider giving GOT a try at some point if you haven't done it. I resisted for a long time, but I'm really enjoying it. It's reminding me of all those awesome 80's miniseries with huge casts spread out over far flung locations but still connected by an epic storyline. It's like War and Remembrance or North and South set in medieval times.

OK, then we're going to skip that one
Well I must say, the first two episodes of WHAT/IF are very good. It looks like a sexier and soapier version of DAMAGES.
It's too early to say "highly recommended" but I'm definitely going to find out!

Now I know why the real NuAlexis couldn't be on NuDynasty, she was doing her own show. Renée Zellweger is an interesting choice for the part.

I've just finished watching Unbelievable. I t's one of the best things I've seen on Netflix. I didn't really know anything about it going in, which I'm glad about.

I’ve just given up on Jessica Jones after ten episodes. I loved the first few, it was full of gritty characters and atmosphere, but as things have gotten more fantastical, it’s also become a lot more two-dimensional. And David Tennant’s character isn’t a very interesting villain. He’s a bit one note sneery evil.

Maybe it’s a Marvel thing. I really enjoyed the first half hour of Ant Man, when it’s just about setting up the characters, but the more smashy crashy bangy it became, the more generic it seemed.

I didn't know this was the second series but it's a complete new story so it doesn't matter.
It's a very plot-driven story that relies heavily on the twists and turns and in that regard I think they've done a good job.
Considering the subject and setting of the story it also feels a little bit underwhelming - it could have been nastier imo. This is not True Detective.
No outstanding performances but there's also nothing to complain about. No memorable characters here because it doesn't go deeper than their story arcs.

I really liked the first season. The second one felt ever so slightly formulaic in comparison and didn't grip me in the same way. I don't think I'd go back for a third.

I watched the UK version of Criminal on Netflix and it was just great! I don't want to say too much about it because figuring out the series format as it goes along is part of the fun. Different countries are doing their own versions, with their own stories, and I've added them all to my 'My List'.

Also, Unbelievable was really gripping -- a story you feel has been told to death given a completely fresh perspective. Again, I'm really glad I went into it not knowing anything at all about it. I wasn't even sure if it was a film or a series. (Spoiler: it's a [short] series.)

and then I completely forgot to watch the other episodes
That's why I've watched the other 2 episodes, "Stacey" and "Jay".
It's very well acted and very tense, but I don't think they always masterfully outfox the suspect. There's something gullible about that breaking point, and it's not because they can't take it anymore because they're mentally exhausted. Jay didn't have to respond to Hugo's monologue after the coffee incident, and Stacey didn't have to confirm her relationship with Roderick.

Hmm, perhaps you're right, but maybe there's a part of them that wanted to confess ... which I admit is kind of convenient, but I was kind of willing to go along with it by that point.

Five episodes into Sex Education on Netflix and I'm totally smitten.

I've just started watching this and only seen the first episode so far. I can't help remarking how much the actor playing Otis has grown up since he starred as Hugo Cabret in Martin Scorsese film Hugo (2007).

Added to my amazon prime list:

The Last Tycoon
Carnival Row
Good Omens
The Romanoffs
The Terror
Friday Night Lights
McMafia

I have no idea what they're like but I'm intrigued enough to give it a try.

Currently nothing in my netflix list, but I think they have more interesting movies than amazon, but not always the ones they advertise. Sometimes it takes a bit of digging to find that gem.

Just watched Hollywood on Netflix. I will be honest, it's the "Once Upon a Time" treatment of Hollywood... Almost a fairy tale, a mix of real celebrities and created ones, in an alternate optimistic reality. When you are aware it's not supposed to be even close to history and reality, you can enjoy it. I did.
It was a kind of "feel good" story.

I see Giri/Haji is now on Netflix. I watched it on the BBC ages ago, i.e. the beginning of lockdown, and it's so, so good.

It's a fantasy of what Hollywood would have been like after the war if people were more accepting of diversity. I'm not sure if it was helpful rewriting the history of real life people but overall it was an entertaining enough series.
