A Supreme Court for all Americans should consist of justices that cite the Constitution when making their decision. Liberals and conservatives may interpret it differently, but I can respect both sides as long as they refer to the Constitution to support their position. For example, I don't want a justice like Scalia citing the views of Evangelical Christians as opposed to the Constitution when opposing same sex marriage.

As a left leaning person, I've been saying this since the primaries. I had discussions with Democrats who tried to convince me that Hillary was a better candidate than Bernie Sanders. Many cited her experience, despite Sanders being a successful politician for the past 35 years. I countered that much of Hillary's "experience" was at the expense of the poor, minorities, and gays. I also cited her ties to Wall Street and her support of the wars in Iraq, Libya, and Syria. However, the same Democrats that supported her then continue to do so. Even so, the leaked emails from the DNC and Podesta feels like a nice consolation prize.

Personally, I don't see Trump as the answer to Hillary. He's done a great job of dismantling the Republican establishment, and he's one of the few Republicans to not come out against Social Security and Medicare. However, I find him extremely crude and divisive. His policies towards Muslims would infringe on our religious freedom and killing the family members of terrorists would be a war crime. Not to mention the fact that he bragged about the housing market crash being good for business and said getting out of paying taxes made him smart. He's a burden on the people he claims to be fighting for, and acts indifferent to it.

Both candidates will always have their ardent supporters regardless, but I think the majority of people are voting for the candidate they believe is the lesser of two evils. However, that varies from person to person.

Thank you for reasonable and fair comments. One of the many things I've admired about you is your ability to debate and respect both sides of an issue with an open mind.

I absolutely can not press a button for either Hillary or Trump. For me, Hillary's history of questionable practices, openly lying and even lying about things she didn't need to lie about, Wall Street and Foreign Government connections done behind closed doors are all things I've watched over the years. I realize a person can change over time, but she is still involved in deceptive practices, still lying and the list goes on, and on. Trump's big mouth and hurtful comments toward certain segments of the population is so ugly. I am totally against infringing on anyone's religious freedom, Muslim, Jews, Catholic or whatever, and by the same token I don't want mine infringed on either. I do not agree with Trump on killing family members of terrorists, which is definitely a war crime. I do feel this election will have profound consequences on this country, and a big issue for me is immigration. Trump wants "proper vetting." Well, what does that mean? What's the standard to determine this since there does not appear to be any data on record showing radical history. Should these immigrants coming in and who are already here get a pathway to citizenship and then we have hundreds of thousands who have applied for citizenship and gone back to their mother country awaiting their turn to come back with legal status. That is certainly not equality by any standard. Hillary hasn't offered her ideas on this, but she has spoken endlessly about Trump's. You and I both agree the Constitution should be followed, not only by the Supreme Court, but it's also in the Constitution that the President of the United States has a responsibility to protect this country against enemies both foreign and domestic. So, I ask, "Mass Deportation", "Extreme Vetting", "Mass Immigration from Iraq, Syria and Libya". Another 9/11, Orlando Nightclub killing, San Bernardino, Paris Nightclub, Paris Holiday is not acceptable. I don't have an answer, but I know I am not comfortable with religious discrimination.:)

Why do I feel like I'd need to put on a tin foil hat before reading that report? lol What was the source?

I first read the article on "Trending News " Facebook, then I went to Smartmatic, and later in the evening I was watching local news in my area and it was briefly mentioned. I did see the flowchart before it disappeared, though.

So the Democrats are just as obstinate as the Republicans? rotf

Yes.It's wrong on both sides. We, the people are caught in the midde. There;'s two sides to every issue and they don't agree on much.

Robert Bork? You mean the guy who tried to let Nixon off the hook for Watergate?

Yes, that's the one. I'm just pointing out BOTH sides do the same thing I'm bot saying it's right or wrong and they have the power to do it, that's what both sides do.

Yeah, like when they decide the outcome of a presidential election like they did in 2000. Thank God they were 'properly balanced' then.

Well, you tell me, did the Supreme Court follow the Constitution?

So it was passed in the Spring of 2010, like I said. lol

Yes, the bill was signed into law in the Spring of 2010, but the Senate passed it on Dec. 24, 2009 before it could be passed into law. Like I said. Not sure if Congress had already convened for their end of the year break or if Harry Reid made them come back in to pass it on Christmas Eve.

They had their chance to participate in the process and instead did nothing but stonewall. Then they want to b!tch about it.

Yes, and by the looks of the mess they signed without reading the bill, looks like they made the right decision. Shows that stonewalling in this case

kept their hands off of this disaster.

Translation: the Republicans didn't get their way.

Translation: Democrates got their way to pass a disastetr.

So you don't care if Republicans continue losing elections?

Now, did I say that? No, I didn't

Right of center..
If Genghis Khan is center.

That confirms a lot..
Mostly that you're just as bad as I already thought you were, maybe worse.

Says the person who thinks ripping a full term baby out of a womb is cool!!
I do, huh? In that case, you can show everyone the exact post where I said something even remotely like that, right? Otherwise, you'd be nothing short of a monumental liar. I won't hold my breath waiting.

I haven't seen anything about it in the mainstream news media.

Which Supreme Court Justices have the Democrats had significant opposition to other than Bork and Clarence Thomas, both of whom were opposed for obvious reasons? And even those two nightmares were given confirmation hearings and a vote. The Republicans, on the other hand, won't even give Obama's moderate nominee a hearing, much less a vote. And how many times have the Republicans shut down the federal government rather than work out a compromise on the budget with the Democratic president? They are far more obstinate than the Democrats ever thought about being and the American public knows it.

Yes, that's the one. I'm just pointing out BOTH sides do the same thing I'm bot saying it's right or wrong and they have the power to do it, that's what both sides do.
So you really don't understand why the Dems had serious reservations about appointing Bork to the Supreme Court? By the way, 6 Republicans also voted against him. And Reagan's replacement nominee, Kennedy, was confirmed 97-0.

Well, you tell me, did the Supreme Court follow the Constitution?
It depends on whether you think the Supreme Court should've decided the outcome of the election or the voters.

It wasn't the final version, which had to be passed again by both the House and the Senate so I'm not sure what your point is.

Yes, and by the looks of the mess they signed without reading the bill, looks like they made the right decision. Shows that stonewalling in this case kept their hands off of this disaster.
Yes, why participate in the process when you can just bitch about the end product. :re:

Translation: Democrates got their way to pass a disastetr.
As if the Republicans would've passed any healthcare legislation, disaster or otherwise. Also, are you saying there's nothing good in the Affordable Care Act at all?

Now, did I say that? No, I didn't
So what's the plan for rescuing the Republican Party from the dire path it's gone down?

Today is the birthday of Marla Maples. I wonder if Don sent her a card.View attachment 1121

I had to chuckle when I read your post. Yesterday, was Hillary's birthday and today is Marla's birthday. How lucky can "THE DONALD" get. :card:

To top off Hillary's birthday cake, he opened another signature hotel, thus creating hundreds of jobs, something she has never done. Whether he plants his mail box at 1400 Pennsylvania Avenue or not, he still got to Pennsylvania Avenue before she did.:giggle:
