Hello everybody:

I know that we still are 6 months away from the date that will mark the 40th anniversary of our favorite supersoap, but here is my proposal. Why not make a few videos to celebrate the event and use this thread to post them? Don´t be shy, there might be a video director in you and you don´t still know...Anyway it´s a very rewarding work and usually a labor of love.

I myself have started a whole new series of videos, and 3 of them will be a tribute to the series we know and love. It´s not only about putting little clips together, but thinking of a concept or idea to create the video. For the first time ("Ewing Empire" promos aside), I have used text inserted into my chosen scenes to speak of "Dallas" and tell a few things...that all of you know by heart. :(;)

I hope you like the result. I will be posting the other videos here, and I encourage you to be creative and imaginative (I know you are) so we can have fun together here. My videos will be posted by twos, with the second one using the Spanish dubbing of the time for all the fans from my country that pop out here once in awhile. I learnt a lot of English by watching "Dallas" in the 90´s, maybe you could learn some Spanish from these videos... :cool1

That´s very sweet from you Victoriafan3! Though I don´t know about the "master" part... The clips I use for this series were all in my previous video (the 39th anniversary one that lasted around 14 minutes, still available on my site homepage) but the editing and, of course, the texts, will be all new.

:thank:

Here is my proposal. Could the magnificent creative types behind soapchat begin a countdown clock (in the Dallas Banner) in readiness to celebrate the 40th Anniversary on April 2, 1978?

Totally agree. I remember discovering this on youtube for the first time, it gave me chills. In 4 minutes and 26 seconds JR Rules captured the essence of what made Dallas tick. Drama, a few laughs. Why the hell can't TV Executives make television like this anymore? Seriously? Is it that hard?

You know I don't wish to start a war here but in the above video posted by Miss Texas, at the 1:47 mark there is a great shot of Ann wrapping her arms around Bobby. It feels natural to me. I understand some had issues with the character but I continue to say Patrick and Brenda had good chemistry on screen.

I'd also add. How is possible an amateur can put together a video with feeling yet the so called experts in their chosen field cannot create a series with the same kind of emotion?

Reg. the first past of your post, the problem was NOT in poor Brenda Strong, but in the worse than poor writing, especially for her character. She is great when she has to play ambiguous or shady roles, if not straight ice queens. But no, they didn´t want her to play grey, just bland.

About your second paragraph, it´s not only that amateurs make expert-like videos, but also that "experts" are (very) amateurish.

Hi everybody!

I´m keeping up my non-stop tribute to "Dallas" now more than ever, that our series is almost 40!
Here is my latest video, devoted to the actresses who played on the show, for years or just one episode, but who never appeared in the Opening credits. You can see in the video a total of 55 actresses from the 13 (14 for the Warners) seasons of "Dallas". And remember that I use the producers´ criteria so I didn´t put here the likes of such "fan favorites" as James, Michelle, Stephanie Rogers, Cally or that obnoxious Liz What´s-her-name.

I have intended to be the most inclusive ever in my choices, but hey, I just can´t make up scenes, close shots or lines that never existed! So here´s to our dear Dora Mae, aka Pat Colbert, who couldn't eventually be included in this video.

Enjoy the video and get ready for more to come! Parts 2 & 3 of the History of "Dallas" included!!

As promised, here is another tribute video, devoted to the rest of the actors: all those who are so beloved to us because they were our company in front of the TV set during years and years. I also paid an homage to the different Openings, and I think you will understand why I had to put at the end (skipping the "alphabetical order"...) a few of those actors of the latter years. I wouldn´t have been honest if I hadn´t...Enjoy the video and express your opinions here or on the YouTube page!

A "Dallas" celebration wouldn´t be complete without remembering those amazing cliffhangers that changed the TV landscape in the 80´s...and beyond. I hope you enjoy this new video!

Here´s my newest video tribute to "Dallas" in its 40th anniversary, devoted to the freeze-frames, those last seconds of every episode that made us come back the next week. I hope you like it.
