Oh my goodness, I would be in a constant state of confusions if we changed our names all the time
You’ve got a good point there Lashes. Okay, perhaps that was a bad idea on my part LOL
I know what you mean

sometimes I'd be replying to someones post and thinking .. "whats your name again?"..Lol!
I had the same problem. There were a couple of people that I had no clue who they were. Once or twice I almost typed, “Who the heck is this?”
How odd, I wonder if its global warming? although to be honest I don't understand a lot about that.
I think that’s exactly what it is. Now we’re back in the 40s this weekend but by Tuesday we’re forecasted to go back up to the 80s again. Things have been very odd down here this winter. Odd and extreme for us.
Ooo they must envy you being warm and sunny

..
They envy me in the winter but not in the summer when I’m either boiling where I stand or running from hurricanes. Then I envy them.
. I'm always surprised how bad the winters are in New York, especially the amount of snow they get.
It’s funny how we can change as we get older cause I used to love those brutal winters in Upstate New York. Then when we moved down here in 1994 I wasn’t sure I would like it at first. But then everyone was telling me that once I spent that first winter here I’d never want to leave. And sure enough, I was noticing that it was 80 degrees out in November and it’s not getting dark earlier and you can wear whatever you like outside and so I ended up staying. But I do miss New York a lot. No matter how long I live here, when I go back up there to visit it’s still home. Always will be.
You make it sound simple and I suppose it is if you're eating less and healthier, but I can imagine it must take a huge amount of will-power not to buy some tasty looking treats.
It’s very tough. Let’s face it, there’s too much temptation out there. I’m very careful during the week but on the weekend I’ll cheat a little. Tomorrow, Sunday for example, is family dinner day and they pretty much all know that DFF is coming to eat the legs off their kitchen table if he has to.
I admire how well you've done and I like the way you're doing it
Thank you for saying this Lashes! Believe me, I need the encouragement sometimes LOL
There are soooo many different diets , but I always suspect the diet industry is in it more for themselves rather than the people who want to live healthier, they make a lot of money out of praying on peoples insecurities. ....... and that concludes my lecture of the day
That’s a very good point! Hey, let’s face it, the dieting business is big money. The more weight we lose the more they make. I’ve always felt that dieting is different for everyone cause we’re all different inside. Our metabolisms, our size, our genetics, etc, so I think everyone has to do whichever diet works for them. People ask me all the time what I did and the answer is simple. I just started googling the daily recommendations for fat, saturated fats, sodium, sugar, cholesterol, calories and carbs. And I try to stick as close to those recommended numbers as I can. I read the nutrition labels on everything I buy, I cut out fast food, junk food, soda, etc. Me cutting out soda was like you and Michelle giving up buying plants but I did it. I had a glass of soda Christmas Eve for the first time in 4 months and it didn’t even taste right to me. I couldn’t figure out why at first but then I remembered that someone told me once I stopped drinking it that it won’t taste the same ever again and sure enough they were right. I didn’t even have a second glass.
What was my point with all this? I don’t know. Anyway, dieting is extremely hard but rewarding and my advice to people is use the diet that works for you, not necessarily the one that works for others. That was my point. I remember now.
I remember how my Mum used to get tearful watching us singing Carols in the school drama/play at Christmas and I used to think . ."whats she crying for?" and now I do exactly the same.
I used to think the same thing. “Why the heck is she crying?” Funny how we end up getting these things later on in life, realizing we’ve now become them when we thought we never, ever would, right?
It fascinates me how music can get extreme reactions out of everyone. Its also a great to help recall many memories, certain songs remind me of people or places or situations I've been in. Anyway DFF, don't get me started on talking about music or I'll never shut up
I know you take your music very seriously Lashes. I need my music daily, and my mood or what I’m about to do will usually dictate what I listen to. If I’m on my way to work, I need something fast and upbeat to prepare me for the impending war. On the way home I need celebratory music cause I know I’ve made it through another day. If I’m down or feel the need to reminisce I need slow music to help me through it. I know that one makes little sense but that’s how I am.
You've come a long way my friend and I don't say this lightly
Thank you Lashes! I really appreciate you saying that and I guess you’re right cause obviously now I don’t shut up either!
What an extra special gift your niece truly is and how very lucky she is to have an uncle who literally thinks the world of her.
She is my weakness (and my strength). Not sure what I would do or where I’d be without her.
Although I would imagine your niece will be overcome with emotion when you do eventually tell her, especially with your wonderful way with words just why she is such a star. Its so beautiful
Thank you for saying that my friend! I used to wonder how it must feel having your own kids if you can feel that for one that’s not even your own. But now I don’t look at it that way anymore. She’s my own to me.
I always said I'd never become one of those people who buys everything on-line .. well I'm ashamed to say I have become one of those people.
Oh, don’t be ashamed Lashes! If it wasn’t for online shopping I wouldn’t have a job. It’s convenient. I get apologies all the time from women because I have to go to their house every day but I think it’s funny.
I don't quite buy everything online, I still buy all our groceries myself and a few other things , but its just so easy to click a button and hey presto!
Yes, well, “hey presto” as you put it puts food on my table every night so I shouldn’t complain. I guess I still buy everything in the stores though. That’s just me. I love going to malls, supermarkets and department stores so much that I’ll probably never order much online.
I made turkey for Christmas dinner, along with a roast ham, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, pig-in-blankets, peas, cauliflower cheese, carrots (yuk!, I can't stand them but they add colour) home-made stuffing, apple sauce and gravy ... heck I hope I've not gone and made you hungry
This all sounds amazing! There isn’t one thing there I don’t like to be honest. And the fact that I can read all that without falling off the wagon and destroying my diet is absolutely amazing to me right now!!
I'll not describe the desserts we had or you'll be drooling :Clol:
No, you’d better not. I’m pressing my luck already I think. Hearing about the desserts will put me over the edge.
. ..and thank you for your kind words in THE POST OF THE YEAR THREAD ..you made me smile.:ty:
You’re very welcome! I meant what I said. Your tribute was beautiful and I really enjoyed reading it. I loved how you showed all the tributes from all around the world. I especially enjoyed the ones at Yankee Stadium and the Empire State Building. It’s always nice to see our countries being there for one another in our darkest times. You’re a pleasure to post with my friend!
Have a great and safe week!
