Some weeks ago, I was within earshot of a group of (straight) men who were, in their minds, flirting with the hostess at a restaurant. The woman, who was indeed good looking, was clearly not interested and did not engage, but that did not stop them from one attempt after another. Nothing offensive about her body etc., but their insistent requests to get her phone number or to inquire about her relationship status were pretty annoying--to me, but the woman tried to hide her displeasure with not that great success.

I say that to point out that there are indeed behaviors that are inexcusable, and that I don't think such behavior falls under the "boys will be boys" category. In her position as an employee of the restaurant, she could not really tell them what she thought of their crude behavior and had to be civil to them when they were anything but. Yet the way commercials like the above paint all men with the same brush do great damage to real situations where women in such situations are in the right and the behavior of certain men is in the wrong. They remove all conditions and force the acceptance that all women are always right and all men are always toxic. And then that becomes a laughable proposition and one easy to reject, which comes back to haunt the same cause such declarations pay lip service to.

That about sums it up. Imagine a tampon commercial that made it look like women were a bunch of gold digging sluts who did nothing all day except spend their husbands money, ignore or beat their kids, and gossip. Obviously women like that exist, but it would be ridiculous to define all women by that stereotype. In contrast, it's publicly acceptable to shame men and define them by the worst characteristics of some. Like we're so awful as a gender that we need an entire movement to tell us to knock it off. It's condescending and insulting.

Decent people already know what's acceptable behavior and what isn't. The Gillette commercial is straight up virtue signaling, and its supporters condemn anybody who sees it as such.

Roseanne Barr calls #MeToo accusers 'hoes'

Roseanne Barr didn't hold back on the #MeToo movement in a new off-the-rails interview, launching a verbal attack on Sen. Kamala Harris and other women in the process.

The 66-year-old comedian – who was axed from the hit "Roseanne" reboot in May following a racist tweet – sat down with conservative commentator Candace Owens, where she mocked sexual assault accusers and the #MeToo movement "witch hunt."

"If you don't run out the room … but you stayed around because you're like, 'I thought maybe he was going to give me a writing job,' well, you ain't nothing but a ho," Barr said during an episode Sunday of "The Candace Owens Show," after asking why women were in men's hotel rooms late at night.

Barr and Owens compared the feminist movement to white supremacy, while Barr added that #MeToo accusers are "pretending that they didn’t go to trade sexual favors for money."

"I know a ho when I see one," Barr exclaimed. "They need to be called out …That's privilege, too – ho privilege."

The outspoken comedian then lashed out against Sen. Kamala Harris, nicknaming her "Kama Sutra Harris."

"We all know what she did … she slept her way to the bottom," Barr said, referring to the senator's former relationship with ex-San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.

Barr also took shots at Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who tearfully testified against now-Supreme Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh after accusing him of sexual misconduct.

"She should be in prison," Barr said, adding that Ford used her "white woman privilege" to avoid time behind bars. She claimed that "nothing happened" to Ford.

"Women are encouraged to be conniving," Barr said.

"Conniving little wimps," Owens agreed.

I agree with some of what she said. There certainly have been women who've agreed to sexual acts in exchange for career advancement that ended up regretting it later. And while being propositioned like that is wrong, they still made the choice. The problem with #MeToo is that it conflates regrettable choices with force and coercion. It's all the same to them.

As far as women being encouraged to be conniving goes, I'm not sure that applies exclusively to them. I think it has more to do with groups that develop an agenda against another group. Not all women are conniving, but the ones who are riding the current, socially acceptable wave of misandry certainly are. When it comes to taking down men, the ends justify the means.

That said, I disagree with her completely when it comes to women like Ford. While I believe a man should only be convicted if there is irrefutable proof that he committed sexual assault, I also believe the same standard holds true for women accused of making false accusations. And to my knowledge, it wasn't determined that Ford lied. The problem in cases like that is waiting so long to come forward. By that point, it's almost impossible to prove who is telling the truth. The Ford example is particularly polarizing because of the political angle. Generally speaking, liberals believe her and Trump supporters don't. Putting agendas aside, it's one of those things where it's impossible to know definitively. Barr's showing her Trump bias here.

Barr's newfound rightwing bent and Trumpian bias is like Dennis Miller's: they're more interested in trying to stick it to "liberal Hollywood" as opposed to being true believers.

Roseanne doesn´t know yet that her sitcom has been canceled...and she will probably keep on playing herself for the rest of her days.

Next in news: Roseanne becomes Trump´s new Secretary of State.:re::popcorn:

I find it bizarre. She makes the rounds on all of the far right nut job podcasts too. Of course, some of her criticisms of the left are obviously valid.

Joe Biden's been getting a lot of flack lately for being handsy with women. Unlike some allegations, an investigation isn't necessary. There are countless videos of him putting his hands on women's heads and shoulders, stroking their faces, and even smelling their hair. Many of them look uncomfortable, and some of them try to back away (including a little girl.) Now obviously I'm not one to conflate this with rape like the feminists do, but it's certainly an example of creepy and unwanted touching. And worst of all, the establishment hack Democrats are defending Biden and smearing the women complaining about him. Bill Maher said "“We’re getting a little nit-picky. No one likes to be touched unwantedly, and women get lots more of that than men. But the first person who brought this up said he made her feel gross and uneasy. You know what makes me feel gross and uneasy? A second Trump term!”

Does Maher not get how illogical his "logic" is? If you're going to crucify a guy for saying "grab em' by the pu$$y," surely gropey, hair smelling Biden isn't the guy to run against him. And calling women who complain about being touched by him "nit-picky" makes Maher a straight up a-hole. If these were just allegations, I'd withhold judgement until an investigation was completed. But unlike many #metoo cases, Biden's unwanted touching is cut and dried. Do I think he should be jailed? No. But it is creepy, and certainly not presidential. Look at how many of these same Dems treated Bernie when members of his campaign were accused of sexual harassment. Bernie himself was never accused, yet he still received the brunt of the criticism even after he apologized and said it would be looked into. Yet here they are lining up to defend Biden. And they have the gall to say Biden's accusers are politically motivated!

Biden's accusers have not, however, said his actions were sexual (at least, so far). So just what the hell are we talking about?

That's precisely why I said I'm not conflating his actions with rape. But the touching is still unwanted. Does that not fall under the purview of #metoo? I'm one of the movements biggest critics, but there are times when lines are legitimately crossed. It doesn't have to be sexual to be wrong, and many of the women in the videos are clearly uncomfortable by it.

Just like sexual harassment doesn't involve actual sex, but does involve unwanted advances.

Yes, for coming to Biden's aid while bashing Bernie for something members of his campaign were accused of. They don't have their own political motivations in check.
